What is challah (the easiest way to pronounce it "hallah")? It's an enriched bread made with yeast, flour, sugar eggs, water, oil and salt. It is usually braided, sometimes with three strands or six strands or even more. Challah can also be formed into a round or made into individual rolls. Each shape has a special meaning. It is traditionally eaten in Jewish homes on the Sabbath (Friday sundown to Saturday sundown) at holidays and for special occasions like Bar and Bat Mitzvah and weddings. Challahday-AZ challah is not just for special occasions! Our challah is a treat to be enjoyed every day by every one.
